Blatant ripoff of the movie 'A Princess for Christmas'
By C. Gold
This is a pretty blatant ripoff of the movie 'A Princess for Christmas'. Aside from exchanging the grandfather and his son's 'grumpy' roles, the kids athletic activities, the heroine lacking in antique knowledge, and adding sex scenes, the rest of the book is like a blatant copy of many scenes that happened in the movie. As a real lover of the movie reading all the blatant copying was very distracting.

There are parts of the book that are the author's own and she would have been better off to avoid copying the scenes from the movie and done her own thing. I could forgive one or two but here I'll list some of the things copied from the movie so you can see for yourself.

Older boy, younger girl about the same age. (ok can forgive this one since angry works best with an older boy)
The heroine lost her job just before xmas (at least she didn't work in an antique store)
Poor heroine and kids meet uber rich grandfather and uncle (at least they weren't royalty from Lichtenstein)
There are romance books in her suitcase and the maid was trying to unpack for her and looking snooty at the books
The maid was standoffish and melted as the book progresses
They are late for their first dinner, got lost in the corridors just like the movie
The young girl asks are you my grandpa before leaping into his arms at the dinner table (love that scene in the movie)
The boy asks the grandpa "what are you going to do to make it up to us?" (same exact wording in the movie)
The heroine slips on the polished floor and falls on her butt (really? I found this annoying in the movie, more so in the book)
The heroine runs into the whiny girlfriend (she's an ex in the book) at the tea party
The heroine mentioning hot wings and beer at the tea party (goodness, are we done copying yet?)
They wind up going to a fundraiser vs ball (glad to see some variation here and the dance plays out differently than the movie at least)
The boy learns fencing vs electric guitar but still both kids take up activities outside of schooling like the movie
The hero plays violin (exactly like the movie though he doesn't play in the mansion so at least that changed)
The hero stops by while Addy is learning to dance and gets the heroine to dance with him
The heroine decides to loosen up the son with hip hop (this was a cute scene in the movie)
The snooty (ex-)girlfriend interrupts when they are hot and sweaty (why? at least in the movie this made sense but she's an ex in the book and doesn't really have a meeting)
The heroine overhears them speaking about her and the plans for the kids then she hears them speaking about not wanting 'her' at the dinner party. This is almost the same wording as the movie for her being crass, etc. This was so stupid to add this in the book. Instead she should have found out about the lawyer's documents to take her kids away.

And finally, if you are familiar with the movie then the story in the book plays out scene by scene pretty much identical to the movie with just a few variations and additions. I could predict what was going to happen based on what happened in the movie which is sad.

The movie is better put together than the book and grew all the characters and side characters unlike this book. This book tossed aside the kids once they had their scene of learning new skills so you didn't really get to see them grow. It seemed to fixate on the hero/heroine and forgot everyone else. Changing the grandpa as the grumpy one in the movie to the son in the book removed his purpose and character growth. Also changing the hero's girlfriend in the movie to an ex in the book means she had no point in the story anymore. Her role made sense in the movie when she was interfering with the budding love developing between hero and heroine but it's nonsensical in the book. It's like the author didn't understand the characters and their setups in the movie and just tossed in the bits she liked, changed others willy nilly and wound up with a mess that doesn't work.

I really love Melody Anne's work but this was a deeply disappointing experience and I feel bad for paying money for what I feel to be essentially a plagiarized story.

***** A soul clenching love story that emerges from a tragedy *****
By Rachael Leissner
*I received an ARC of this book for an honest review*....and I honestly LOVED it!

Finding Forever is a story that starts off in a very heartbreaking way. After learning her sister & brother-in-law are killed in a car accident, Whitney’s life is turned upside down. She jumps into the role of Aunt/caregiver for Ally and Brayden, her niece and nephew, and tries to cope with the loss of her sister while trying to help them adjust to the loss of their parents. Over the first year she struggles, as anyone would, and keeps on going knowing that she is doing what is best for the children. Just as Christmas approaches a year after the tragedy, a knock comes at her door step that will turn her and the children’s world around again. She is taken aback to find out the children have other family when Liam, her brother-in-law’s brother shows up out of the blue. He asks her and the children to come back to New York with him to spend the Holidays and also wants the children to meet their grandfather. Whitney decides to pack the kids up and give them a chance at getting to know their Uncle and Grandfather they never knew they had. When she gets there Whitney gets swept away in the lifestyle the two live and starts to fall for Liam. He is an arrogant, wealthy playboy and she is attracted to him against her better judgment. Can she trust this man she just met to not take the children away from her? She knows they might live a better life than she could provide if they were around this wealth, but is that really what is best for them and for her? This book was something I couldn’t put down! I read it in 2 sittings and loved the whole story. You truly get to see how a family can come together in times of tragedy and how they adapt when family they never knew they had appears. You see characters in this story grow and the character development in Liam just stunned me. What a great soul clenching tale.

It was quite apparent that the better caregiver would be Whitney
By Mignon Mykel
Received a review copy through Inkslinger PR in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 / 5 stars

This story had a ton of potential for me, but I had a hard time getting past much of the dialogue -- many of Liam and Frederick's earlier conversations were almost... pretentious. It was no wonder Vince separated himself from his family, asking for them to not be notified in the event of his and his wife's deaths a year after the custody of their children was settled and with his sister-in-law. It was quite apparent that the better caregiver would be Whitney.

The ins and outs of Whit and Liam's relationship was an enjoyable one to read. I liked the interaction with the kids and felt that Brayden's characterization was very age appropriate, but at times felt that Ally's seven was more of a late seven if not mid- to late-eight years. Aside from the semi-appropriate grieving process for the children, I felt that Whitney's own grieving had been stunted -- she didn't have the proper time to mourn the loss of her sister before being thrown into caretaker role, and I don't know that it was properly executed in the story, either.

My favorite part of the book was the end -- I know that sounds snarky but honestly, I'm an epilogue gal and while the book simply went along the paces for me throughout the chapters, I loved the normalcy and sense of family that finally, fully occurred with Whit, Liam, Frederick, and the children.

The prologue was gripping and the epilogue was a sweet cherry to top the cake; it was just points in the middle that while a good contemporary, didn't get past 'good' for me.
