It's hard to know whether to laugh or cry at this forthright, kindly and odd saga of advice from one of the most public divorcees in recent memory. Ivana obviously wants to help women struggling with some semblance of her own troubles. Get tough, get on with your life, keep busy, look good, find a new man: not much to argue with there. But however hard she tries to identify with ordinary folk, she can't resist telling how Prince Charles dropped by for tea at Mar-a-Lago. Seemingly nothing escapes Ivana's sharp eye. Her readers are bombarded with rhetorical questions: "You're not surprised are you?" (that Diana couldn't change Charles); "That's quite a blessing, don't you think?" (the two young princes). Cinderella wins no points from Ivana: "Cinderella should have said good-bye to those nasty relatives, cleaned herself up, gotten a nice job and a cute apartment somewhere." It is easy to mock, but the heart of the champion skier from the former Czechoslovakia is in the right place. She adores her three children and manages to keep all animosity toward The Donald out of these pages, saying, "I wish Donald nothing but the best, and I know he feels the same way toward me." This curiosity rather than self-help volume will be read more for the interesting detail of daily life as Ivana Trump than for hints on how to survive divorce and single parenthood.

Adult/High School–McCullough concentrates on George Washington's role in the creation of the Continental Army, starting with his appointment in 1775 to lead the rather amorphous army of the united colonies and continuing through his successes with that army at Trenton and Princeton as 1776 turned into 1777. He introduces readers to the 1776 that Washington experienced: one of continual struggle both to create a working army and to defeat the British. The victories that he met outside Boston were soon followed by defeat and near ruin around New York and gave rise to the realization that 1776 might easily have become the worst year in the history of America. McCullough not only provides readers with some of his best work yet, but also presents an important look at one of the most crucial moments in the history of the United States. Not for the faint of heart
By born too late
McCullough weaves together historical data and excerpts from letters and journals to create a narrative of this crucial year in American history. Beware that it is not for the faint of heart. This is not the glossed over history you learned in school. To be sure, it includes many proud and heroic moments, but it also shows Washington and his extremely ragtag army as human beings with all the faults and frailities. In this book we get not just the triumphs, but also the mistakes. This is not a case of trying to make anyone look bad, but it's probably a more unbiased view that most of us were raised with. You might want to be sitting down when you read this next bit ... Washington was not a god. He was hampered in this first year by a lack of officers with any real experience (seriously, one of his best and brightest, Nathanael Greene, was a very young, former bookseller with NO previous military experience), and little practical backing by the Continental Congress. But even so this account includes some painful mistakes. Still, the victories were very sweet, and those moments when the rebels rose to the occasion are glorious.

A more-than-compelling history lesson

As a proud American who, I'm ashamed to admit, knew next to nothing about the details of the Revolutionary War, McCullough's "1776" was a much-needed history lesson for me. Written lucidly and grippingly throughout, "1776" provides a strong foundation for one's study of this most critical period of our nation's history, and has inspired me to continue my own studies by reading as much as I can about the revolution and its meaning, both then and now. One also comes away with a sense of awe toward General (and later President) George Washington. The extensive bibliography that McCullough has provided is more than enough for a lifetime of study.

I think that those Americans who read this book will, like me, feel more strongly patriotic and value more greatly the selflessness of those who fought for our country in its infancy. And I think that non-Americans who read it will better understand what it means to be an American, and hopefully see our country in a more favorable light. Yes, I realize that America has its problems, both currently and historically, and that we're certainly not beloved by everyone throughout the world, but it's nonetheless moving to at least try and perceive what we mean when we talk about the "American spirit": that feeling of unbounded liberty that allows us to truly pursue happiness. "1776" offers a path.

Would like to contact David McCullough - In chapter 1 he details how the House of Lords and the House of Commons both did not want to support King George and his proposed attack on America. The reason that they did not support it could have been Masonic. Prior to the Revolution the Masonic Ritual contained a "MISSION". Since King George was not Masonic, those who understood could not have uttered a word of the ritual to explain their vote. This "MISSION" was deleted in 1832 from the Masonic Ritual because it was complete. No Mason would have even known about who learned the ritual after 1832. Learned about it due to the member of my lodge having ancestors of who were members after the Lodge was built in 1814 and knew of this as part of the lodge history learned from those members who went who were made members prior to 1832. This change could have been part of the reason that the anti-masonic riots erupted in 1832.
The published history of the Pennsylvania Grand Lodge demonstrate how very unexplained events and meeting took place in thru 1778 in Philadelphia. This also correlates with the Grand Lodge of England removing the Grand Master who had to be a Stewart, and replacing him with one from the Hanover linage. This is an 1832 event.

About the Author
Sheila Grossman, PhD, FNP-BC, APRN, is a Professor of Nursing and Coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Track at Fairfield University School of Nursing. She received a BS in nursing from the University of Connecticut, her MS as a Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst, a post-masters degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Fairfield University, and her PhD from the University of Connecticut. She has worked many years as a clinician on a variety of medical, surgical, and critical care units and presently practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a primary care clinic. She is the coauthor of The New Leadership Challenge: Creating A Preferred Future for Nursing, which is in its third edition (2009) and received an AJN book of the Year Award and has also received an AJN Book of the Year Award for Mentoring in Nursing: A Dynamic and Collaborative Process (2007), and coauthored Gerontological Nurse Certification Review in 2008 with Dr. Meredith Wallace Kazer. She is the author of multiple chapters and journal articles on leadership, mentoring, gerontology, adult health, and palliative care. Her research interests focus on symptom management in palliative care, leadership, pedagogy, cultural competence, and adult patient outcome studies. She is active in Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty, American College of Nurse Practitioners, and is a certified End of Life Nursing Education Consortium Educator and a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education Accreditation Site Visitor. book in very poor condition, the binding is torn apart and the bottom cover is almost falling off. The print potion of the book is in good condition but very highlighted.
Adding to my previous review:
My negative review on this book was based on the condition that the I received it in and has no bearing on the content. After readying most of it I have found this to be an excellent book, I plan on buying a copy in better condition and returning the one I rented. I plan to go back to school for my masters and doctorate and this book will be very helpful during that endeavor. If you are a nurse and plan to move to higher education or becoming specialized in any area, this book is an excellent resource and should be a part of your library.

Stat Book review

I purchased two different books for my statistics class - one by Glass & Hopkins, and this book by Coladarci. This book was optional for the class, but I'm glad I bought it. The explanations are clear and to the point. Not very much theory, which I've found to be overwhelming for a new stat student. I would recommend it to anyone who might be wondering if it is worthwhile to purchase a book that is not required but optional.

DOES NOT WORK WITH MANY KINDLE DEVICES!!

Does not work with Kindle Touch. Does not work with the Win 8 Kindle App. Requires some weird browser download to work on the app for Android 4.1. Looks like they tried to make it so it only works with the Kindle Fire. Which is exceptionally stupid. The utility of a kindle e-book is that you can access it from many devices. This is accessible to none, or almost none, of my devices. Lucky for me, Amazon offers a "return for refund," option and when they asked why, they had a "compatibility issues," button. Do not waist your time downloading this kindle book unless you are sure it will work with your kindle device and chances are it won't.

For any beginner statistic major, this book is the one for you. It's an easy read and the layout is logical. The author organized the chapters in a sequence so that the beginner starts with the basics and works toward the difficult formulas. Although I used this book in class, the information in it has helped me in my career as a Lean Six Sigma practitioner.

I really enjoyed using the Manhattan Prep set

I really enjoyed using the Manhattan Prep set. I purchased this together with 5LB exercise to prepare for verbal. The book was written in a very positive and encouraging tone, and I felt like I was learning with a real instructor. I scored 167/170 after 1 month of intensive study. I did all the verbal exercise in Mprep, including 6 online tests, and I think it really helped.

Not bad

This is a decent book with plenty of useful exercises. But I have to admit I don't really like Manhattan Prep's writing style. There's something a bit "sour" about it. Princeton Review may be no better (or even worse) in terms of quality, but they do have a friendlier style of presentation. It has to be said also that Manhattan Prep does not grade your essays on the online exam. They give them to you under timed conditions, but you don't get any feedback. They need to start offering that service, and maybe they can outdo Princeton Review, who are incompetent in essay grading. They offer more free online exams with book purchases than Princeton Review does, which is good. Their materials are also rather more difficult, which could be good practice for the real thing depending on how you look at it.

Good supplement to ETS verbal questions (but master ETS ones first)

I tutor the GRE, and I generally recommend the Manhattan Prep set of eight GRE books, of which this is one. As a stand-alone purchase, this book is a good resource for additional TC and SE practice, but overall, its question realism is lacking.

I'll address the realism first. Now that ETS has published a verbal practice book, the need for Manhattan Prep practice material has diminished. Manhattan questions do not dependably capture the essence, nuances, and complexity of authentic GRE questions. Make sure you can do all of the ETS TC and SE questions in your sleep as well as being able to EXPLAIN them to a friend before you worry about supplementing.

But I know some of you are hardcore. This book will be a good supplement once you're truly done with the ETS questions (so will the Manhattan 5-lb. book).

Technique: Manhattan Prep's technique is good. Just keep in mind that the more you practice, the better you'll get, and the more you'll see how you have to adapt your technique at different times. Of course, real ETS verbal questions are the best teachers for this. In other words, Manhattan's TC and SC technique will work okay out of the box, but you'll want to refine it as you go.

About the Author
Jane Roberts (May 8, 1929 - September 5, 1984) grew up in SaratogaSprings, New York where she attended Skidmore College. Jane was aprolific writer in a variety of genres including poetry, short stories,children's literature, fiction, and non-fiction. Her internationalbestselling non-fiction books include Seth Speaks, The Nature ofPersonal Reality, The Nature of the Psyche, and The Individual and theNature of Mass Events. “Objective” reality laid out before you

Using the words “Truth”, “Reality” and “Objective” is a misnomer, but I couldn’t figure out a better way to describe what’s in this book. These words are misnomers because reality is completely subjective, and subject to being shaped totally by our focus. But it is more than that. It’s hard to explain, but Seth in Seth Speaks demonstrates the wisdom of Infinite Intelligence as he lays out the details of life which humanity knows so little about.

If you’re at all inclined to interest in life after “death”, you are going to want to read this. Supremely profound, spot on (in my experience) and thought provoking, this read will open your eyes to what is really going on in “life.” It’s not for everyone. My experience brought me to it with perfect timing. Had it come earlier, I would have blew it off as hooey, not because it is, but because my preparation for reading it was woefully inadequate.

Nearly every page, every paragraph every sentence, every word contains so much wealth of information, I found myself highlighting nearly the whole book! I was highlighting so much my fiancé at the time suggested I highlight the parts I thought were NOT important. That would be easier She said LOL.

I devoured and resonate fully with Seth’s complex analysis of “life” in all it’s manifestations, both in “life” as we know it and in that part of life that exists beyond what we call “death”. What inspired me so much about reading the first part of the book is how immense post-death life is. I so am eager to experience that more!

The section on dreams and the multiple dimensions of existence threw me though. I wasn’t ready to consume that material. I find myself getting through it now though and as my experience with the material matures, I am finding the material about dreams and how to access consciously these unfamiliar dimensions fascinating, thought-provoking and, believe it or not, adding a richness to my life that I knew in the corners of my mind were possible, but didn’t know if I’d actually experience it.

This is life-changing material. If you’re not ready for it, you’re not going to enjoy the journey. If you’re in the right space and ready to receive this material, I strongly encourage you to dive into this book. How will you know? You’ll just have to give it a shot I guess!

This book contains timeless information...literally

This really is an amazing book and one that had the greatest impact in my life as far as opening my perception in ways I could not have imagined when I first read it in 1975. After reading it, I was “ruined”, but in a good way. This is not one of those books you can pick up and read from cover to cover in a few days because it's so rich in ideas and information that you need to go through it slowly in order to mentally digest it. Each time I read it is almost like reading it for the first time because I always grasp something new that I didn’t quite digest the last time through.

This is one of those books you have to read with open-mindedness; if you can’t do that, then you probably won’t get much from it because the information goes way beyond conventional ideas of reality. The material goes against what we’ve been conditioned to believe about religion, history, science, identity, reincarnation, death, after-life, good and evil, and reality. If you hold tight to your beliefs and identify strongly with them, then you will probably have a problem reading this book because it will challenge your beliefs in many ways. On the other hand, if you are able to open your mind to the possibility that you create your reality and that there may be other ways of looking at reality, then you’ll probably have a blast with this book.

THE MOST LIFE CHANGING BOOK EVER!!

Brillant and very life changing. Here are some notes I made that I sent to friends about what it is like to read SETH.
After reading SETH SPEAKS Chapter 21, this is even more meaningful to me!! When I read the first of that chapter it was the best thing ever!! I cried......I screamed out to SETH "Thank you, Thank you SETH, that was the most meaningful thing and the best written thing you communicated ever!!" It broke through to my heart and my Being and opened a doorway to the meaning of life more than anything!! And now I understand EVERYTHING I am to do here from this time... on out!!

What I think it is like to read SETH:

An analogy of what is like to read SETH SPEAKS Is like taking a dive into a hug endless lake and swimming for a long way and suddenly realizing I have gone so far there is no sight of land or I am way too far away to swim safely back. and nothing to reach for safety, and panic begins to set in!! So sometimes I just have to call out for the Spirit of Comfort to come to me and get me back to familiar land for grounding again. It can very scary to read Seth and keep your mental compass intact because it stretches even the most seasoned Spiritual traveler's mind to the limits until you believe you just dropped off the deep end and will never get back!! But I stick with it because the reward of this information is well worth the anguish!! And I have ridden the wave of that anguish until it turns into Ecstasy!! This is not for sissy's and not for those who need teachings that are just sugar and spice and everything nice!! But to think it has taken me years to read him starting and stopping over and over. and get past my comfort zone. Many people just are not ready for it or it is just not something they like. But for me it is a salvation in truly understanding why we are really here!

About the Author
Suzanne Welander began canoeing in 1999. Since then, she has completed hundreds of trips exploring Georgia s diverse streams or eddy-hopping down the Ocoee in her whitewater canoe. She has a special passion for wilderness, stoked by multi-day self-supported canoe trips in remote parts of Alaska, Canada, Montana, and Arizona, in addition to canoe-camping getaways in wild corners of Georgia. Suzanne s curiosity continually draws her to explore sections of rivers she has not yet paddled and to monitor the changes at those she revisits. She s also a half-decent whitewater canoe slalom racer. When she isn t paddling or writing about rivers, Suzanne works for a North Georgia organic farm and plays saxophone in the Seed and Feed Marching Abominable. Suzanne lives in Atlanta with her husband who's also an avid canoeist, their young son, and a small flock of chickens.
Veteran paddler Bob Sehlinger has led canoeing trips throughout eastern North America and is the former president of the Eastern Professional River Outfitters Association. He is the creator of the Unofficial Guide travel series and a recipient of the Lowell Thomas Gold Award for journalistic excellence. Founder and publisher of Menasha Ridge Press, Sehlinger lives in Birmingham, AL, where he enjoys mountain biking and playing the drums.

This is the worst publication on this subject I have seen so far

This is the worst publication on this subject I have seen so far. It does not have directions how to get to the landings, GPS coordinates is the only reference and it is not enough and is not helpful. I will have to look for another book.
