Great Book for New Black jack players

I have played blackjack many times before reading this book. I mostly lost before. Now if I follow the authors 5 rules, I leave with winnings. Last 3 times, I was at the casiono, i left with winnings. This book, it will teach you how to win every hand, but it heled me win and leave with as a winner. Also, it is much easier than trying to count cards. I also had a much easier time understanding this book than another book on blackjack the did involve counting cards. I recomend this book for anyone that want to win, it worked for me (as long as i follow the 5 rules).

The calendar is fun at first, but there are only 30 different designs (a few of which can hardly be considered planes) that repeat throughout the year. Each page is a different brightly colored pattern however.

About The Author

Leslie P. Willcocks has an international reputation for his work on global management, outsourcing, e-business, information management, IT evaluation, strategic IT and organizational change. He is Professor in Technology Work and Globalization at the Department of Management at London School of Economics and Political Science. He also heads the LSE’s Outsourcing Unit research centre. He holds a doctorate in information systems from the University of Cambridge, and has been for the last 22 years Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Information Technology. He is co-author of 35 books including most recently Advanced Outsourcing (2012) and has published over 200 refereed papers in journals such as Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, California Management Review, MIS Quarterly and MISQ Executive. He has delivered company executive programmes worldwide, is a regular keynote speaker at international practitioner and academic conferences, and has been retained as adviser and expert witness by major corporations and government institutions. Recent and forthcoming books include The New Outsourcing Landscape: From Innovation To Cloud Services (Palgrave, 2012), and Global Outsourcing Discourse: Exploring Modes of IT Governance (Palgrave, 2013). I am very impressed with the way this book brings to life academic theories and concepts and presents them in a very engaging way with numerous examples that reflect many important trends and events world-wide that one could easily relate to. Many books that have strong academic background are written in a very prescriptive ways. However this book by Professor Willcocks is different in a very refreshing way. Professor Willcocks discusses International Business (IB) topics using multiple perspectives, for example, by applying different theoretical lenses and alternative frameworks, and brings to fore the debates surrounding these topics and applicability of some theories and models. In some chapters there is a discussion of the impact of time on the relevance of some theories or views, which I also found very interesting.

Furthermore, what is distinctive about this book, in comparison to all IB books, is that it discusses in detail the topic of Global IS management. Other IB books neglect this though all say in their Introductions that IT developments are a major driver of globalisation!

Last but not least, the topics covered in the book cover issues associated with IB from different levels, such as country-level (e.g., when discussing political, economic and legal environments), organizational level (e.g., when discussing strategy and market entry discussions), and individual level to which discussions of cultural and social challenges, and HR management are applicable. For those in the beginning of their management career this book is a must. And it will make a very useful read for the very experienced ones, and put many personal experiences in the perspective.

About the Author
For Elaine N. Marieb, R.N., Ph.D., taking the needs of nursing and other allied health students into account has always been an integral part of her teaching style. Dr. Marieb began her teaching career at Springfield College, where she taught anatomy & physiology to physical education majors. She then joined the faculty of the Biological Science Division of Holyoke Community College in 1969 after receiving her Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. While teaching at Holyoke Community College, Dr. Marieb pursued her nursing education, which culminated in a Master of Science degree with a clinical specialization in gerontology from the University of Massachusetts. This experience, along with continual feedback from health care professionals (including generations of former students taught by Dr. Marieb), has inspired the unique perspective and accessibility for which this book is known.
 
Dr. Marieb’s commitment to students extends beyond teaching and writing. Recognizing the challenges students face, Dr. Marieb contributes to the New Directions Program at Holyoke Community College by funding a staffed drop-in center and by providing several full-tuition scholarships each year for women who are returning to college after a hiatus or attending college for the first time. She also funds the E.N. Marieb Science Research Awards at Mount Holyoke College (which promotes research by undergraduate science majors) and has underwritten renovation and updating of one of the biology labs in Mount Holyoke’s Clapp Laboratory. Recognizing the severe national shortage of nursing faculty, Dr. Marieb also underwrites the Nursing Scholars of the Future Grant Program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In 1994, Dr. Marieb received the Benefactor Award from the National Council for Resource Development, American Association of Community Colleges, which recognizes her ongoing sponsorship of student scholarships, faculty teaching awards, and other academic contributions to Holyoke Community College. In May 2000, the science building at Holyoke Community College was named in her honor.
 
Dr. Marieb is an active member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Additionally, while actively engaged as an author, Dr. Marieb serves as a consultant for the Pearson Education Interactive Physiology® CD-ROM series. This text–Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology, Eleventh Edition–is the latest expression of her commitment to the needs of the students pursuing the study of A&P.

When not involved in academic pursuits, Dr. Marieb is a world traveler and has vowed to visit every country on this planet. Shorter term, she serves on the board of directors of the famed Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and on the scholarship committee of the Women’s Resources Center of Sarasota County. She is an enthusiastic supporter of the local arts and enjoys a competitive match of doubles tennis.

Great book with access to A&P website.

Nothing more than reference material for key terms (which can easily be found online for free)

For the exorbitant amount of money this textbook costs it should stand on its own as a learning tool. What it actually is? Nothing more than reference material for key terms (which can easily be found online for free). This textbook is absolutely useless. I frequently found that I was lost in a confusing and awkward maze of the author's attempts to explain the material. Things that could have been explained and sorted with a few words were lost in a plethora of unnecessary technical jargon. After many frustrating hours of reading this text and trying to use it to answer homework questions I finally closed it, put it on the bookshelf as an expensive bookend and found what I needed via my professor's lectures and information online.

I feel completely taken advantage of by my naive thought that this textbook would actually help me learn the material. It did nothing but make me more confused as I tried desperately to find the information needed. I would often find myself reading this book as per my assignment and then during the lectures and online research saying "oh so that's what the textbook was trying to communicate." I also found that the quizzes in Mastering A&P didn't correspond with the book. So much time was wasted trying to figure out the stupid drag and drop questions, some of which made absolutely no sense whatsoever. This is absolutely and ridiculously unacceptable.

This book isn't even worth $1 let alone $150. Unless this textbook is absolutely, unequivocally required for your class either skip it or buy it used or get an older version. I'm not going to be suckered into buying anymore books from this author or publisher. It's a huge price gouging scam that preys on the starving student. As if tuition prices aren't high enough. The price wouldn't be a bad thing if the textbook were of some use. If I wrote a textbook this low in quality and charged this much for it I'd be so embarrassed. Shame on you Marieb and Pearson!
